# SEEJ Style Guide

This guide is meant to provide a reference for preparing, copyediting, and proofreading articles and reviews for the Slavic and East European Journal.

**This style guide was introduced in December 2019. Please note that the style outlined in this guide differs from the style used in SEEJ issues published before Volume 64 (2020).**

For things not addressed in this style guide, consult the [**MLA Style Guide**](https://style.mla.org/).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note: Because SEEJ is published in the United States, please use American English spellings.**
{% endhint %}

In order to minimize confusion and ambiguities, this guide provides a copious amount of examples:

{% hint style="success" %}
Examples of **correct** usage are placed in hint boxes like this.
